UK Opens Doors to Foreign Workers with Easier Visas Process

The United Kingdom (UK) has made the decision to include certain construction jobs on the “shortage occupation list,” which allows construction companies to recruit workers from other countries. The jobs included in this list are bricklayers, roofers, carpenters, and plasterers.

As per the information, if the UK lacks enough workers for particular jobs, it adds those roles to the list to make immigration easier and overcome the shortage. This allows UK companies to easily recruit individuals from abroad for these jobs.

However, this decision puts UK’s leader, Rishi Sunak, and his party in a tricky situation. They have been promising to decrease the number of people entering the UK from other countries. However, they also need workers to assist in the expansion of the construction industry.

A group called the Migration Advisory Committee proposed the addition of these construction jobs to the list. The list already includes occupations like care workers, civil engineers, and healthcare roles. This suggestion comes at a time when the UK experienced a record number of over 600,000 people migrating to the country last year.
