Hospital Jobs in Canada
The Hospital Industry in Canada is one of the most stable industries in the country. Every year it has experienced growth and operated efficiently and smoothly. Also since 90 percent of its funding comes from government sources. It is also mostly immune to macroeconomic volatility. However, slight increases in operating costs have made it necessary to increase prices. However, the number of patients with diseases such as obesity and heart-related conditions seem to be enough to sustain the industry for a very long time into the future and providing steady growth for a long time. It is a 68 billion dollar industry, employs over 500,000 people with over 500 businesses operating in it. However, this industry encompasses a wide range of jobs from those that require several qualifications and a lot of experience to jobs that require little to no experience.
The two major occupations in hospitals are doctors and nurses both of whom get a good initial salary. Doctors, depending on speciality, make 225,000 CAD up to 676,000 CAD before taxes depending on the hospital. While nurses make an hourly from a minimum of 29 CAD to maximum 42 CAD with a full-time salary of up to 75,000 CAD per annum. Many other well-paying jobs also exist such as medicinetechnicians andphysician assistants who earn around 70,000 CAD and 90,000 CAD respectively. However, most of the skilled high paying jobs in ahospitalrequire high qualifications with the minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree or the maximum qualification of an MD.
However, entry level qualifications also exist for people who lack very high qualifications. These include jobs such as doctor assistants, orderlies, home aides and pharmacy technicians who earn between 19,000 and 30,000 CAD with the qualification needed being just a high school diploma. Jobs in every position correspondingly provide the employee benefits, while employees definitely have to work for obtaining these benefits. Hospitals provide some of the most diverse set of perks that are provided to most employees such as health benefits, life insurance, employee discounts and disability insurance. However, some perks also exist exclusively to the more qualified and highly paid employees such as company cars. The hospital industry being government funded is stable and provides well-paying employment to people of all qualifications.
